Common Uses:
Rozerem is a hypnotic used to treat insomnia. Rozerem may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Before Using Rozerem:
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with Rozerem. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE Rozerem if you are also taking fluvoxamine. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking fungal medicines (such as ketoconazole and fluconazole), or rifampin. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including liver problmes, mood or mental problems (such as depression), allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF Rozerem IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a history of severe lung problems (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), sleep apnea, or severe liver problems. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Rozerem.
How to Use Rozerem:
Follow the directions for using Rozerem provided by your doctor. Rozerem may be taken on an empty stomach or with a light snack if stomach upset should occur. DO NOT take Rozerem with a high fat meal. TAKE Rozerem WITHIN 30 minutes prior to going to bed, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. STORE Rozerem at room temperature at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF Rozerem and you are taking 1 dose daily at bedtime, skip the missed dose. DO NOT take the dose in the morning or take 2 doses at once.
Cautions:
DO NOT TAKE Rozerem if you have had an allergic reaction to Rozerem or are allergic to any ingredient in Rozerem. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE take Rozerem for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor. Check with your doctor before drinking alcohol while you are taking Rozerem. Rozerem WILL ADD TO THE EFFECTS of alcohol and other depressants. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to Rozerem. Using Rozerem alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Rozerem during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF Rozerem IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking Rozerem.
Possible Side Effects:
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking Rozerem include drowsiness, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, or diarrhea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience muscle pain, joint pain, headache, mood or mental changes, tiredness, muscle aches, fever, hallucinations, decreased sex drive, unexplained breast milk production, or the absence of a menstrual cycle. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
Overdose:
IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
Additional Information:
DO NOT SHARE Rozerem with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE Rozerem for other health conditions. KEEP Rozerem out of the reach of children. IF YOU WILL BE USING Rozerem FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out.
